Pope Francis: 'Be courageous, go to confession!'

Sacrament of Penance: Saturday 29 March

Pope Francis has asked that special emphasis be given to the Sacrament of Penance on the weekend of the Fourth Sunday of Lent.

Next weekend a church will remain open in Rome for 24 hours, during which time Eucharistic Adoration will take place and the Holy Father will be available for some of the time to administer the Sacrament.

To coincide with this, Cardinal Brady will join with the priests of the parish of Armagh in celebrating the Sacrament of Penance in St Malachy’s Church, Armagh on Saturday 29 March. Confessions will be heard from 11am – 5pm and during this time, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed. A member of the Parish Pastoral Council of Armagh will lead prayers on the hour and people are encouraged to make a special effort to visit the Church and send some time in the presence of God and celebrate the special Sacrament and experience God’s healing and grace.

Evening Prayer will be celebrated in St Malachy's Church at 5pm. The sacrament will also be celebrated as usual in St Patrick’s Cathedral on that evening from 6.30pm – 7pm.

Confessions in Dungannon this Saturday will be at the usual times of 9:30-9:55am, 12:30-1pm and 5:30-6pm.
